Irish breakfast at Maldron Hotel: bacon, sausages, fried eggs, white pudding, black pudding, toast, fried tomato, baked beans, and brown soda bread.
Lunch at Queen of Tarts: peas soup and chicken sandwich with grilled onions. The tarts, cakes, especially raspberry scones are delicious. I ate them so fast and forgot to take pictures.

Adie was at his presentation, so I got to tour the city by myself. I went to visit the Dublin Castle, Trinity College’s Old Library to see Book of Kells, Dublinia, an interactive exhibit recounting the Vikings, walked around Temple Bar, and had dinner at the Epicurean Food Hall, it has food from around the world but not very good.

We took the bus from Kraków to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, it was about an hour away to see this important part of history. You can’t really get a sense of the scale until you visit this place. Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest of Nazi Germany’s concentration camps and extermination camps during World War II. Between 1940 and 1945 approximately 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, were killed by the Nazis in the Auschwitz-Birkenau gas chambers.
奧斯威辛集中營是德國納粹在第二次世界大戰期間修建的集中營中最大的一座。納粹用這些集中營來殺猶太人。被運到的猶太人會經過一個挑選過程。可以做苦工的男性會被送到苦工營,而其他的會被送到毒氣室。被送死的猶太人以為他們是被送到浴室,但是入到浴室的時候,他們才知道浴室的蓮蓬頭只會放出毒氣。殘暴的法西斯分子甚至在焚屍前敲掉受害者的金牙,剝下紋身人的皮膚做燈罩,並剪下女人的長髮編織成地毯。
二戰期間,德國納粹共屠殺了約600萬猶太人、其中約110萬人被關押到奧斯維辛集中營。
奧斯威辛集中營舊址被辟為殉難者紀念館。預估每年都有約六十萬人次到此造訪、從那個有著嘲諷標語-「工作才能使你自由(ARBEIT MACHT FREI)」的大門下經過。
德國侵佔了波蘭五年,又在共產主義的獨裁統治下四十年,奧斯威辛集中營成了這塊土地上永恆的痛。納粹以次等公民對待波蘭人,將死亡集中營遍佈在他們的土地上,殘殺了近三百萬的非猶太裔波蘭人。

Karmela is one of my favorite restaurants in Kraków. The Żurek (Sour rye soup) aka white borscht with sausage and egg in bread was absolutely amazing! I also love the bigos (Polish stew), and pierogis with veal.

Chlopskie Jadlo serves traditional Polish peasant style food with an open kitchen and a huge dining table based on a medieval settlement plan. The homemade rural bread with a pot of lard made with apples, garlic, and marjoram, is served as an appetizer and very delicious. I also love the roasted pork in prune sauce with Silesian dumplings.
